New Year's Resolution? NAHH those are for WIMPS! I am much more for a challenge- Here is my challenge. I know ONE thing--- any thing you do, or want to do has to be done over and over and over... for thirty days in order for it to stick. I know one thing about myself.... I am NEVER happy with Who I am or what I am getting done... SO This Year--- A year when, as of yesterday, I wasn't going to even make resolutions... until I overheard my husband talking to our 5, 6 and 8 year old's about what their resolutions were going to be. They were simple, silly and fun. Then it hit me... resolutions get too BIG, too monumental. I mean... I need to loose 35 lbs. I needed to loose 35lbs last January... I lose some weight--- a lot of weight, but then I gain almost all of it back. so I am losing about 3-5 lbs a year... oh boy... NOT GOOD ENOUGH. What's happening? Why doesn't this work? DUH... no daily accountability... SO- I know I just said I wasn't going to go big... but I am... but it's "do-able" because I have a simple way to achieve it---
Here's my plan. EVERY DAY- I am going to do something that makes me better off than I was when I woke up. Every day I am going to say to myself... "What did I do to help ME out today?" Then I am going to WRITE IT DOWN.
My hope--- I need to know that I am not a pile. I need to SEE in black and white that I am working EVERYDAY to be a better person. And I will say this now... there will be days that I take the "cheap" way out. I might come to the end of the day and say... uggg---- I don't think I did any thing that really made me better off... so I might sit and do 25 sit ups and 25 pushups... but I vow to NOT DO THAT more than once a week... ok... maybe twice. But I am going to work to not cheat myself out of a good plan.
This is going to be fun!
Romans 12:1,2 - Christians are transformed (changed) by renewing their minds (cf. Eph. 4:23). To live differently, we must think differently. We must not seek to be like the world but to use our bodies in God's service.
Proverbs 4:23 - Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life. The way you act is determined by your attitudes and intentions. People and circumstances may influence you, but you do not have to give in. You do what you decide to do
1 Corinthians 10:13 - God will not allow temptations that are beyond your ability to bear. He will always make a way of escape. "God is faithful." He will always keep this promise. It follows that you can break any bad habit and develop any good habit according to God's will.
